Hosting
This website is delivered by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you open a page, Cloudflare processes the connection data this technically requires: IP address, time, requested address, browser identifier (user agent) and the previous page (referrer), to deliver the page and protect it against attacks. I have not enabled access logs and do not analyse these data. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure, working website). Cloudflare acts as a processor under its Data Processing Addendum and is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Cloudflare's privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
No cookies, no tracking
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and loads no third-party content (no external fonts, scripts or embedded media).
Settings in your browser
The site keeps two settings in your browser's local storage (localStorage): the chosen theme (light or dark, only if you switch it) and a flag that the intro has played, so it does not play on every visit. Both stay on your device and are never sent to me or anyone else. You can delete them at any time in your browser settings. Legal basis: § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG.
Contact by email
If you email me, I process your address and message to answer you (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Email runs through the mail servers of Leipzig University.
Links
Links, for example to ORCID, Google Scholar, GitHub, publishers, PANGAEA or my other project sites, lead to other services. Only when you click a link does that provider process your data, under its own terms.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, to data portability and to object to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 15 to 18, 20 and 21 GDPR). Just email me. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, for example the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner (https://www.datenschutz.sachsen.de).
